Life Skill Development

We would work with each young person develop their daily task which is required during their Independent living. 

 

In Supported Accommodation young people are supported to work towards positive change using the Young Person’s  Outcome Star. The outcome star focuses on 8 key areas of the young person’s life:​

  • Choices & Behaviours.

  • Practical Life Skills.

  • Maintaining health and well-being

  • Accessing health services

  • Budgeting and Finance Management

  • Self-help and domestic skills

  • Eligibility to welfare benefits and support to make claims.

  • Referrals to eligible services that can be accessed

  • Looking after a property, and sustaining a tenancy

  • Access to education, employment and training opportunities

Education

Brightway acknowledges the importance of education for young people. Through our support and guidance, we assist and encourage young person in education and support them with the following:

  • Encouraging and supporting them to complete their home work

  • Attending parenting evening for support and monitor their progress to offer ongoing support.

  • Supporting young person to attend PEP meeting to meet their educational needs.

  • Monitoring their progress

  • Working together to identify any additional needs.

In respect of employment and training, we support and encourage young people with the following;

  • Exploring their interest in employment and guiding them through the appropriate means to secure it.

  • Support them with Interview preparation skills.

  • Assisting with the completion of their CV to maximise their chances for employment.

  • Encourage regular searches for employment and apprenticeship opportunities.

Keywork Session

Keyworkers are assigned to individual young person to support and guide their progress into Independent. Keys workers would support the young people with the following;

 

  • Empowering young people to understand their rights and entitlements.

  • Developing individual choice, decision-making and self-direction.

  • Promoting personal safety, protection and supporting young people to recognise risk.

  • Building self-esteem, confidence and resilience

  • Engaging young people in a form of education, training or employment.

  • Growing support networks that will serve beyond care.

  • Supporting young people to become financially independent and astute.

  • Overcoming loneliness and isolation.

Social Activities

Through social interaction, young people are encouraged to engage in social activities, which promote positive social integration and awareness. 

We also support once in a month young people meeting where discussions are shared among themselves through positive and negation experience. 

The home also support an activity day for the young people to engage outside the home and explore their communities together to form a positive relationship.
